1. An advantage of light microscopes compared to electron microscopes is that light microscopes A)allow you to view living cells, while electron microscopes do not. B)allow you to view the surface of cells in greater detail than electron microscopes. C)have a higher magnification capability because they use natural light. D)have a greater resolution available because they use white light.
hmm let me google(:
Okay :)
we tried this one already :)
@panlac and?(:
its A.
3. What would be the magnification of a specimen viewed with a compound light microscope that has an objective power of 40x and an ocular lens power of 10x? (2 points) 40x 50x 400x 500x
that would be C right?
multiplication :)
i dont remember
Well I figured that panlac. : )
2. To study the details of protein molecules on the surface of a cell, a biologist would likely use a A) compound light microscope. B) dissecting microscope. C) scanning electron microscope. D) transmission electron microscope.
do you remember this one?
the clues are in the attachment that I provided :)
umm give me a sec i think i have notes on that
pick between scanning microscope and transmission microscope :) one is utilized for studying surfaces and the other is used for internal structures
I believe it's transmission microscope.
did you read the attachment I provided?
yah its transmission microscope
Yes I did. Did you have this class? :)
So I was right it is transmission electron microscope.?
yah i do have it and yupp ur right
panlac can you explain to me how I am wrong? because from what I read the answer I have decided is correct is apparently correct in the file you have shared with me?
the key to answering the question correctly is "on the SURFACE of the cell..." SEM is utilized to study the topography (use a mnemonic device to remember - TOPography, meaning top/surface) of specimens. check page 95 of the attachment and see if this matches.
it doesn't say anything about what they use. .
I guess I am just stupid. I give up I am going with my guess if I get wrong. I just won't go to homecoming and I will get griped at by my mom oh well :) thanks for yall's help.
For number 2 it would help if you knew what each microscope is...... do you know?
Yes. I am just having trouble with that one question.
I highlighted it for you this time.
it is transmission electron microscope http://www.udel.edu/biology/Wags/b617/ffe/ffe7.gif
Thank you. Panlac told his " friends " it was wrong. I knew that was the answer but got confused when he said to his " friends " that it wasn't right. I appreciate you for your help panlac but I don't want you helping me anymore. I really don't. Your disrespectful # 1. And for # 2 you act like you know it all. I am sorry I come here for help not to be judged. Thanks Geometry_Hater for your help. I appreciate it.
sorry if I may seem disrespectful or knows it all. I won't provide any help in the future, but I would like to know at some point in time if the answer to the second question is TEM when you get the results. :) as a student, I like to be corrected when I am wrong :)
How in the heck do you think it is SEM?
SEM is usually used to study the surface of the cells, and TEM is used to study the internal structures of cells, such as its organelles. Since the attachment I provided were not convincing, I found a good website that supports my answer and that differentiates their use. http://www.vcbio.science.ru.nl/en/image-gallery/electron/
SEM was W R O N G !
