Two blocks with masses 1 kg and 2 kg are tied together and pulled horizontally by a constant force of 10 N, as shown in the given figure. What will be the acceleration with which the given system of the blocks will move?

mathslover (mathslover):

@Xishem @Shane_B

OpenStudy (shane_b):

The force is constant and you know that both blocks will move together at the same acceleration so:\[F=ma\]\[10N=(1kg+2kg)a\]\[a=3.33m/s^2\]

OpenStudy (xishem):

Yep. If two objects are tied together, you can consider them to be the same object, and F=ma applies appropriately.

mathslover (mathslover):

oh so the answer is : 10/3 m/s^2 or 3.333 m/s^2 right?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Yes

mathslover (mathslover):

thanks a lot.. @Shane_B and @Xishem
