Could you help with a Algebra problem (unions and intersections)? Got stuck on this ninth one. Construct the appropriate number sets with the given information. Use the sets to match the following: Given a = Ø b = B c = then A ∪ B = B d = A e = then A ∩ B = B 1. If A union B 2. A union C 3. A intersect B 4 . A intersect C 5. B intersect C I think that 1 matches {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6} I think that 4 matches {1, 3, 5} I think that 3 matches {2, 4} I think that 2 matches {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} I think that 5 matches null, or empty set
..so which one is the given...which one is the question...and which one is your answer?
ok, the given is this: Construct the appropriate number sets with the given information. Use the sets to match the following: Given a = Ø b = B c = then A ∪ B = B d = A e = then A ∩ B = B
Then the options (this is a matching exercise): 1. If A union B 2. A union C 3. A intersect B 4 . A intersect C 5. B intersect C I think that 1 matches {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6} I think that 4 matches {1, 3, 5} I think that 3 matches {2, 4} I think that 2 matches {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} I think that 5 matches null, or empty set1.
Does this clear things up?
that last comment of yours.....is that a typo?
what's C?
Yes, yes it is :) My apologies.. C is c = then A ∪ B = B
based on your answer A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} B = {2, 4, 6} C = {1, 3 ,5} If the number sets are like above then your answer is right. .. still haven't understand the "Given" part lol
Given is like the options.. but thanks for your help...
