factor : 27a^3−8b^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using this identity\[x^3-y^3=(x-y)(x^2+xy+y^2)\]what will be ur x and y here? compare LHS of identity with ur problem

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

this is the difference of 2 cubes x^3 - y^3 = (x - y)(x^2 + xy + y^2) x= 3a y = 2b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be (3a-2b)(9a+6ab+4b) ? @campbell_st ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mukushla

OpenStudy (anonymous):

emm..note that x^2=(3a)^2=9a^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whats the answer i am so confused... @mukushla

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u did it right just there is a little typo it would be (3a-2b)(9a^2+6ab+4b^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, thanks !! im going to post another one
