equation.

hartnn (hartnn):

the root of (x-a) is a. the roots of (x+a)(x+b) are -a , -b does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I understand..so am I right when I stated + 4 , - 7 , + 10 , - 12 are the roots of the polynomial equation?

hartnn (hartnn):

absolutely :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im kind of confused on this one :S Write a polynomial of the smallest degree with roots 1, -3, and 4. so that means (x - 1) (x + 3) ( x- 4)?

hartnn (hartnn):

thats right,u just need to simplify it further...to write it in standard form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now its : (x - 1) (x + 3) (x^2 + 2 - 3) (x - 4) (x^3 - 8 + 12)?

hartnn (hartnn):

i think u missed x there (x^2 + 2 - 3) it should be (x^2 + 2x - 3)
