A 25 g arrow buries its head 2 cm into a target on striking it. The arrow was travelling at 50 m s–1 just before impact. What is the average force that acts on the arrow during the period of deceleration after it hits the target? I calculated that the impulse/change in momentum is 1.25 kg m s-1 but when I tried doing the rest, I an answer of 1.56 x 10^3 N. The answer in the back of the book says 1.6 x 10^-3 N and I'm wondering whether it's a typo or it's actually the answer? Can someone please help? Thanks a lot.

1.562 x 10^3 N is right, @sedighn :)
