1. Which of the following is one of the factors of 2x2 + 2x – 144? a. 2 b. x – 8 c. x + 9 d. All of the above 2. Which of the following is one of the factors of x2 – 13x + 12? a. x + 12 b. x – 3 c. x – 1 d. x + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first one i stopped at 2(x2 + x - 72)

hartnn (hartnn):

factoring (x^2 + x - 72) will give u (x-8)(x+9) so now can u tell whats the answer for 1st ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello - the factors are FOUND by FINDING THE ROOTS of the quadratic expression inside the brackets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As the prev. person said the Roots are \[r_{1} =\]+8 and \[r_{2} =\]-9.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the factoized form is (x - \[r_{1} \])(x - \[r_{2} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x - r1)(x-r2) is (x-8)(x+9)
