Purchasing a grapefruit and a toy, a 7% sales tax is applied to the non-food item. If the total is $5.15, including .18 in tax on the toy, what are each of the prices of the grapefruit and toy? I need help making out the equation, please!

OpenStudy (shane_b):

First, find the price of the toy knowing that the tax was 18 cents and the rate was 7%: 0.07(toy price)=0.18 toy price=2.57 Now just subtract that from (5.15-0.18) to find the price of the grapefruit.
