Explain it and help with it :) Use the distributive property to simplify the expression below: 5t − 3(1 + t) A)6t – 3 B)2t – 3 C)8t – 3 D)2t + 6 Use the distributive property to simplify the expression below: −2(3d − 1) + 4d A)–2d − 2 B)–2d + 2 C)–2d − 1 D)10d + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, when you use the distributive property you take the number directly outside the parentheses and multiply it by the numbers inside.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so to distribute the -3 you would multiply it by both the 1 and the t that are inside the parenthesis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which would give you 5t-3-3t to work from then you just simplify by combining like terms and you get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would do the second problem the exact same way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the first one is B?

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1346105530061:dw| yes it is b
