Find the diameter of a semicircle that has an arc length of of 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that s/2(pi)(radius) = measure of angle/360 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But don't know how to apply this to problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you know that arc length= radius * the angle you consider and you have a semi circle that mean your angle will equal to 180degrees arc length =3 and diameter =2radius apply it and you have what you need

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But you have to convert you angle to radian not degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you kindly pape for your help. I appreciate it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180degrees=pie radian

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya, tried getting as far as I could with that advice and still not sure what to do or how to solve this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay let me solve it for you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

arc length= radius * pie ---> 3= r*pie --> r=3/pie or diameter= 2radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, I appreciate your help, pape.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you welcome

Sweet, i did it on my own and got the right answer, thanks again.
