you are painting 5 rooms. Each room measures 11ft. by 12ft. and 8ft. high. Each room also has 2 windows measuring 4ft by 6ft and one door measuring 3ft. by 6ft. 8 in. If a gallon of paint covers 440ft^2 how many gallons do you need? Please help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5((11*12) - 48 - (3*6.8))/440 you calculator should give you the final answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm i got 611.9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats up with the multiple pareentheses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find area of one wall times it by 4 subtract areas of 2 windows plus one door multiply the answer by 5 divide it by 440 ohh and my eqn is wrong i forgot to times it by 4...sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so can you please rewrite it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i need to ad rthe multiple pareenthes in the calclator??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5((8*12*4) - 48 - (3*6.8))/440 put as it is in ur ti83 or which ever u hve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay lemme punch them in now and tell you my results

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep on missing stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lemme do it one at a time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like what this time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of 2 walls will be 2(8*11) and area of other 2 walls will be 2(8*12) so total area of 4 walls = 2(8*11)+2(8*12) then u subtract doors and windows thn the remaining steps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

final answer is 3.40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol umphh that was easy thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):
