If S = {positive integers} and subset T = {2, 4, 6, 8 …}, what is T'? {2, 4, 6, 8 …} {1, 2, 3, 4, …} {positive odd integers} { }

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Which of these can be defined as "not in T"

OpenStudy (amistre64):

is 2 an element of T ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

hero (hero):

Hint: `T' is the set of numbers that are not even`

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then any option with a 2 in it is bad

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Hero, that is an assumption :) a valid assumption tho

hero (hero):

Why is it merely an assumption?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the best we can go for is that S contains elements that are not in T; so the empty set is out

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i can create many sequences that start out as 2,4,6,8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

one of those is the set of positive evens; but without a specific rule, all we can do is assume

OpenStudy (amistre64):

We know that T' has at least 1,3,5,7 in it so it cant be empty; that only leaves the third option as valid enough :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks but can u help me in the other question

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im not sure what the "other" question is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
