The residents of a city voted on whether to raise property taxes. The ratio of yes votes to no votes was 7 to 5  . If there 7968 were total votes, how many yes votes were there?

use the unitary method there are 7 + 5 = 12 parts in the ratio... then find 1 part of the ratio 7968/12 = Answer the yes voters = 7 x answer
