OpenStudy (cwrw238):

x is the height of one of the lateral faces can you calculate x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 31.6702

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no - I'm afraid not x = sqrt(38^2 + 21^2) = sqrt1885 = 43.417

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im really bad at math

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

its pythagoras' theorem - check out the triangle x must be longer than 38 - right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh i see what i did wrong

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

x^2 = 38^2 + 21^2

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

good now the area of one lateral side = 43.417 * 21 ( height * half base) multiply this by 4 gives you total lateral area of the pyramid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soo D?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes

thanks
