I'm having trouble understanding this question, putting it in my own words, and i don't know how to solve it. Any help? Thanks! Part one only. Robbie Rectangle was looking upon his farm, which is in the shape of a rectangle, and was thinking about doubling its size. He plans on doubling the length and width of his existing farm. He has to buy fencing for the new farm and needs to know how much material he will need. In addition he wants to know the area of his new parcel. How does the perimeter and area of his new farm compare to his original?

OpenStudy (phi):

why don't you think about a 1 by 2 rectangle and double all its sides. how does perimeter change. how about the area?

Part 2. Other fellow farming friends have also decided to follow in Robbie's footsteps and double their farm size. In Geo-Township there are Tracy Triangle, Sally square, and Charlie circle. How will the perimeter and area of their new farms compare to their original? Note: Circle farm leave in pi, and Triangle farm is right triangle.

@phi I understand that part, but whats got me confused is theres no mention of numbers. so how am i supposed to find the area of the parcel with no numbers to fill in for the area formula?

OpenStudy (phi):

How does the perimeter and area of his new farm compare to his original? that means find the perimeter with made up numbers or just letters W and L. then double everything and find the perimeter then take the ratio new/old to find how much bigger new is.

oh! That makes sense. Thank you!
