An analogy is a comparison between two things that are usually thought to be different from each other, but have some similarities. Ex: Performer & Action - painter is to paint, soldier is to to fight, scientist is to research. Ex: Part to Whole - brick & wall, glass & window, glass & light bulb, page & book. Ex: Object and Function - keyboard & to type, telephone & to call, paintbrush & to paint. Ex: Object and Location - plane & hangar, dog & doghouse, tree & forest. Ex: Things That Go Together - salt & pepper, cord & socket, fork & knife, bread/butter.
