Create your own unique quadratic equation in the form of y=ax^2 + bx +c. Show all your work and determine if the graph opens up or down, how to tell, and explain whether it has a maximum or minimum point.

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Basically you plug in anything you want for a, b and c, and solve it with y = 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I realize that is what I need to do but the issue is I don't know how to solve it.

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

It will depend on the value of a, b, c you plugged in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=5x^2 + 25x +3 okay I plugged in numbers for a, b, and c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now what?

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Use the discriminant. In this case, the discriminant would be \(25^2 - 4(5)(3)\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright now what?
