Can someone please show me how to solve this question step by step? (35-5x) + (18xroot2 + 24x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can't solve it unless its ===equal=== to something. All you can do is simplify.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then how do i simplify it?

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

The expression is \(35 - 5x + 18x^2 + 24x\). Add the like terms together and you get \(18x^2 + 19x + 35\).

OpenStudy (kainui):

\[(35-5x)+(18x \sqrt{2}+24x)\] Well you can start by collecting like terms. See in that second set of parentheses you have 18*sqrt(2) amount of x and 24 amount of x. So you can just add the two together. For example, 2x+3x=5x, right? Just do the same thing here for that second part. Since it's all addition and subtraction here, the parentheses are meaningless, so collect that -5x term with the rest just like I showed you and you will have something that looks like ax+b

OpenStudy (kainui):

When you say root two, did you mean power of 2? I might have misinterpreted that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry I meant power of two I wrote it wrong
