(Geometry) Which is a possible value for x? 12 13 14 15
14
just try every number to find out
thats the good thing about multiple choice
@Ldaniel are you sure?
hint : 2x+8 < 34
I got 13, bc 2(13)+8 = 34, the other angle but I'm not sure
bc= because lol sorry!
@ganeshie8 , does it look like a parallelogram?
to you*
its not a parallelogram... we need to use a postulate
Ahh.. Okay.
there is only one answer. :)
it says something like, if two sides are same, then the angle made by largest side is large
Not drawn to scale then.
Ahh... okay. Thank you!
@dellzasaur , did you get your answer? :)
@monokerous Yeah I got 13 because 2(13)+8=34, the other angle :)
I quote @ganeshie8 :"hint : 2x+8 < 34"
@monokerous 12?? I'm not really understanding
yes. 12.
it's and inequality where < means less than.
after you've solve the inequality, you get x<13 which means x is less than 13. The only answer less than 13 left, is 12.
@monokerous Ohhh ok!! It makes sense now, thanks :) My mom and I thought it was just a plain ol equation at first
:) That's what i thought too, at first.
@monokerous Thanks so much :)
Really appreciate it!
You're welcome! All credit actually goes to @ganeshie8. :) ha ha.
@monokerous wait, if the two lines are congruent on that triangle, wouldn't their angles be the same?? Making the answer 13??
No. @ganeshie8 explained:"if two sides are same, then the angle made by largest side is larger" Besides, the figure is not of a parallelogram. The fact that one side is 13 and one side is 16 makes a lot of difference to the angles.
Your figure is not drawn to proportion. |dw:1346274143778:dw|
@monokerous Ohh okay! That makes sense
:)
@monokerous Thanks again :)
Don't mention it. ;)
o.O Sounds weird typing it out... I think I'll stick to 'You're welcome.'
