What is the focus of the following graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(0, 6) (6, 0) (0, -6) (-6, 0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be a?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no the focus is on negative x-axis this is a parabola the focus is the point where the distance from the focus to any point on graph = distance of this point to the vertical straight line on positive side (i've forgotten what thats called)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c or d? i dont kn ow which number i put first

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

if you look at the point (-1,5) on graph distance from this to (-6,0) = distance to the vertical line (-6,0) is your focus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d.. thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2, 3) (2, -2) (2, 2) (2, 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since it doesnt lay on a negative axis i cancelled out b
