OpenStudy (anonymous):

An object is found to move with an acceleration of magnitude 11 m/s2 when it is subjected to a force of magnitude 216 N. Find the mass of the object.

OpenStudy (xishem):

Use Newton's second law:\[\vec F=m \vec a\]Solve it for mass:\[m=\frac{\vec F}{\vec a}\]Since we are only looking at magnitudes, we don't need to consider the vectors of F and a:\[m=\frac{|F|}{|a|}=\frac{216N}{11\frac{m}{s^2}}=19.6kg\]
