Laura rents a movie for a flat fee of $2.00 plus an additional $0.50 for each night she keeps the movie. If Laura returned the movie and paid $5.00, how many nights did she keep the movie?

I got 6 as an answer
well you can make an equation out of this.. let x=#of nights and y=the fee so because the movie costs 0.5 a night that can be the coefficient of x and 2 can be the constant so y=0.5x+2
6 is right :D
so now sub in 5 for y... 5=0.5x+2 then solve for x 0.5x=3 x=6
2+.50x greater or less then 5 then you subtract 2 then you have .50x= 3 then you divide by .50 and get 6
