Suppose the point (8, -3) is on the graph of y = f(x). Find the corresponding point on the following transformations of f. a.) y = −14f(x + 5) ( , ) b.) y = f(−x) + 5 ( , )

OpenStudy (cruffo):

a) the graph is shifted left 5, reflected on the x-axis, and stretched vertically by a factor of 14. So the point moves as follows: (8,-3) -> (3,-3) ->(3,3) - >(3,42)

OpenStudy (cruffo):

b.) the graph is reflected on the y-axis, and then shifted up 5. The points moves: (8,-3) -> (-8,-3) -> (-8,2)
