Suppose the point (8, -5) is on the graph of y = f(x). Find the corresponding point on the following transformations of f. (a) y = −10f(x + 3) ( , ) (b) y = f(−x) + 3 ( , )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first -shift left 3 units, reflect on the x-axis and stretch vertically by 10. (5,70) second one- reflect across the y-axis, shift up 3 units (-8,-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 70 isnt correct...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry its 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u get these numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get them from the transformations, like shifting, and reflecting upon the x or the y-axis and also stretching the graph by multiplying by a factor. For example for (x+3) tou shift left 3 units, so your at (5,-5) and etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the 50? how do u get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiplied the y value of 5 by 10.
