Nick follows a rule to deposit money into his savings account each month. The past 4 months, he deposited 6, ten , fourteen , and eighteen dollars. His sister determines that each deposit is increased by 6, so his next deposit should be eighteen plus six equals twenty-four dollars . What error did she make? What should his next deposit be? Explain your answer.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The jump from 6 to 10 is an increase of 4, not 6.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

So each deposit is increased by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Identify the pattern of each increase.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Where are you stuck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 4?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

That's the actual increase

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The next deposit should be 22 since 18+4 = 22
