Triangle ABC is translated on the coordinate plane below to create triangle A'B'C'. If parallelogram EFGH is translated according to the same rule that translated triangle ABC, what is the ordered pair of point H'? (-3, -3) (4, 9) (7, 6) (0, -5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is triangle ABC's translation? Do you know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its right below it? don't you see the figure i attached?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup. So pick a point. Lets say for example, coordinate C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Coordinate C has been moved 3 squares to the right and then 6 up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now do the same for EFHG. Move every point 3 right and 6 up. You will need more space

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops sorry. Just do that for point H

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

move point H 3 right and 6 up? wouldn't it be 6 down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep getting -2, -3 ugh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember the translation is that the bottom triangle has been transformed into the top triangle. So you will move H 3 right and 6 UP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The coordinates of H right now are (1,3) right? Do you follow me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's 4, 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! :)
