Please help...regarding the U.S Constitution

What are the "strict and loose" interpretations of the Constitution.
Examples
or Definition maybe?

a strict interpretation = word for word
loose interpretation = more opinionated than strict

a good example is: should assault rifles be publicly owned?

strict interpretation: we have the right to bear arms so yes we should.

loose interpretation: no we should not because the founding fathers could not imagine what guns could do today like firing 100 bullets per second.
