Solve |x-1| = 5x+10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|x - 1| = 5x + 10 Two solutions to this because ti is absolute value x - 1 = 5x + 10 -4x - 1 = 10 -4x = 11 x = -11/4 x = -2.75 And: x - 1 = -(5x + 10) x - 1 = -5x - 10 6x - 1 = -10 6x = -9 x = -9/6 x = -1.5 But the first one is not the Solution

My teacher wants us to show our work to check it, and when I tried it came out really weird so I thought I was doing something wrong :/

No Problem:) Glad I could help.
