ughh can i pleaseee get some help? If AB=16, BC=8, and AC=24, which point is between the other two?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is assuming that the three points all lie on the same line. WHich line segment out of the three is longest?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so where would B have to be in relation to A & C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm on the line? or in the middle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

draw a line|dw:1346388529922:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if B is outside, what would the drawing looking like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If B is in the middle, what would the drawing look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait which one are you asking me? middle?? or outside?? i think the midddle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you prove that it is the middle, (think about how to use the lengths of AB and BC to prove this)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well 16+8 =24 so it has to be i the middle. idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's perfect!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1346388767624:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol really?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i deserve a medal :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B has to be in the middle because AC is longer than either of the other two segments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B cannot be outside of AC because than the BA and BC lengths that are given would not make sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good job!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thats what i was thinking too. lo thanks for helping
