Parth (parthkohli):

Hypothetically asking, why do we even have different chats? 1) There's only one active chat: Mathematics. 2) People perceive from the chat names that there's a study talk. (e.g., Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics). 3) Problems rise, like the zen-mode. 4) More wasted space in database. 5) Last but not the least: People may plot behind backs.

Parth (parthkohli):

Imagine zen mode for just one chat. Nice.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the issue there is that solution isn't necessarily scalable. For example, we are partnering with some other groups to offer study groups for a Mechanical MOOC - people who are taking that class should have the opportunity to communicate with each other outside of the 'noise' of the Math chat. It's a good point you bring up though Parth, and one we've struggled with back and forth for quite a while now. We are still looking at the best possible method - and I at least think this most recent release addresses a lot of the concerns people have brought up. Keep those ideas coming!

Parth (parthkohli):

People actually chatting about Mechanical MOOC can open their threads. Chats are off-topic. =/
