What Sir Issac Newton said it means that he used the available tools either to use it more precisely or to show the use of it...for example Issac Newton didn't invent calculus but he showed us how to make best use of it...that's why he said he stood on the shoulders and was able to see further. Similarly, there are lot of things which were already structured but was clarified or modified or explained in a more lucid manner by Newton like kepler's law and a lot more . Although he is one of the most favorite scientists of all time.
