my question is mainly if anyone here who has experience with computer engineering could give me an idea of what it's like.

i can tell you the process is NOT fun, just like any engineering courses. The end product, however, is either satisfying or regrettable, depending on your country. If you live in America, you can easily go to Silicon Valley where all the computer engineers gather. Some countries, like third world countries, don't have much use for computer engineers though.
