Explain why there is no possibility of genetic variation during vegetative reproduction.

Genetic variation arises during sexual reproduction. That is, the gametes from two genetically different individuals meet to form a new individual that has the combined genetic material of both parents. Whereas in asexual reproduction, the parent organism just individually gives rise to genetically identical copies of itself. Is vegetative reproduction sexual reproduction or asexual reproduction?
