Why is it important to understand the difference between no correlation, a positive correlation and a negative correatlation in research? Essentaially, what inferences do each of these measurements permit you to develop about the relationship between two materials, items or issues being researched and reported? I'm having trouble in understanding and formulating a 300 word response to this question.

Both of positive and negative correlation indicate that the phenomena in study are interrelated- either as co-ocurring (similar causes) or anti-related (mutually exclusive to some degree)
