Basically you need to do as much practice questions as you can, attend help classes and ask absolutely every tiny question you have so that you fully understand the concepts. Don't be shy when asking :)

Chemistry is not a subject which you can do or think easily on later topics. It requires basic knowledge and then applied to later topics, Later topics includes organic chemistry and inorganic reactions require knowledge of molar calculations, chemical bonding*, thermochemistry, acid base reactions*, redox reactions*, molecular structure*, concentrations of solutions and more.
* Indicates important for later chapters (or for most chapters)

If you are either got into middle and stucked everytime you do any of your homework, its mostly because your basic knowledge is not good enough, try review them if you feel that you forgot something.

If you just started your chem class, you should better put more focus on chemistry because if not, you really gonna struggle later on.
