Roughage normally implies plant based fiber common to many diets derived from such. Concentrates normally imply the absence of significant plant fiber. Examples of plant fiber are diets consisting of hay and plant hulls. Concentrate examples are cereal grains, fats and proteins such as fish meal
Roughages are usually high in fiber where as concentrates are usually high in protein or carbohydrates. roughage: alfalfa hay. concentrate: meat and bone meal.
