Which graph shows the quadratic function y = 3x2 − 12x + 10? (The picture of the choices i will post in the comments)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

find the symmetry axis of the function and its vertex and see which picture is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know how to do that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chihiroasleaf help! lol

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

let the function is of the form \[y=ax ^{2}+bx\] then the symmetry axis is \[x=-\frac{ b }{ 2a}\] and the absis of the vertex is equal to the symmetry axis and it's ordinate is \[f \left( -\frac{ b }{ 2a} \right)\] try to calculate these, and see which picture is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still don't get it, don't know how

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

maybe you can read this first http://www.valleyview.k12.oh.us/vvhs/dept/math/quadshelp.html :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know the answeR?

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

yes, I do but, isn't it better if you do understand the topic and can find the answer by your self ? :)

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

@ajprincess maybe you can help, give some hint maybe... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, i rather just know the answer. normally i would want to learn it but i really need this done and i only have a limited amount of time. if i don't pass this test i fail the grade.
