help please..find the value of x..equation posted in replies

OpenStudy (barrycarter):

You can simplify that, but it's not an equation, so you can't find a value for x

OpenStudy (honeymonster):

\[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(x+3)-(1-x)=1\]

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

\[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(x+3)-(1-x)=1\] \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }x+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(3)-1+x=1\] \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }x+\frac{ 3 }{ 2 }-1+x=1\] \[x+3-2+2x=2\] Note: in the last step, I multiplied everything by the LCD 2 to clear out the fractions. Can you take things from here?

OpenStudy (honeymonster):

thank you soooo much.. :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

tell me what you get for the final answer

OpenStudy (honeymonster):

i got x= 1/3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that is 100% correct

OpenStudy (honeymonster):

thank you so much for your help
