Use Cramer's rule to find the solution of the system of equations. write as ordered pair {3x+y=5 2x-3y=18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get the determinant first 3 1 2 -3 the determinant is -9-2=-11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then just replace the variable you want to solve for with the answer like in the other problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 5 1 18 -3 to find x right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which would be -33?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then you divide that by the det, which is -11 so x=-33/-11=3 x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 5 2 18 which =44? 44/-11=4 y=4 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

44/-11 =-4 not 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and yeah if you plug it back into the original equation it works :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, okay got it I actually know how to do those now thanks so much!
