@jim_thompson5910 can you help me??

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Think of a cardboard box. Now imagine unfolding everything and flattening it out as much as possible.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

make sure you flatten it out so that each face is touching the floor or ground

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i dont get it.. :/

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Say we have something like this |dw:1346631075980:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it unfolds to this |dw:1346631125169:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it's not to scale (or drawn well), but hopefully you get the idea

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If you stand directly over it and look straight down, you'll get the net you have up at the top

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i got that part, and it ask what polyhedron she'll get when she unfolds it, how do i know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what it is

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you'll get a rectangular prism (a fancy geometric name for a box)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, and what do they mean about a regular polyhedron

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

for part B, it is NOT a regular polyhedron because each face is NOT a regular polygon

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

a regular polygon is a polygon with all equal/congruent sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, wow you made it seem so simple, well when i look at it now it does seem simple lol but thanks again

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm glad I do, glad to be of help
