A laboratory culture contains 150 bacteria. After twenty minutes, the culture contains 300 bacteria. After one hour, the culture contains 1200 bacteria. Make a conjecture about the rate at which the bacteria grow.
doubles every 20 minutes?
notice after 20 mins its 300 so after 40 minutes its 600 and after 60 minutes its 1200, thus doubling every 20 mins. Is there something about this confusing you? I think you had the same question yesterday.
no this is a different question and im not good at word problems
its the same question with different numbers, both were doubling every 20 minutes. Ok well let me know if I can help with anythng.
yes i need help by you explaining step by step
ok what if I told you you start with 4 apples then in 20 minutes you had 8 apples and then in another 20 minutes you have 16 apples then in another 20 minutes you have 32 apples. you can see how they are doubling every 20 mins correct? well lets say all of this a little bit different you start with 4 apples, after 20 minutes you have 8 apples, after 1 hour you have 32 apples. <-- these are saying the exact same thing. the second way we did not tell you it was in 20 minute intervals and we did not talk about the 40 minute mark. instead we said in 20 mins...in 1 hour... This is the same thing as saying in 20 mins ... in 3(20) mins ..... we just never told you the 2(20) which we would have called the 40 minute mark. does this help?
so the number of bacteria doubles every 40 minutes right
20
so the number of bacteria doubles every 20 minutes
