There are some fixed ratios of the sides of any right triangle.

Here, in this question.. The Ratio of the perpendicular and base is called tangent of angle 45 (given here)
=> 64/AB = tan45
tan 45 has a value 1.. ( You will need to learn trigonometry :P)
so AB has a value of 64 units

That will be length of "EG"
Consider the bigger triangle..
Similarly tan60 = EG / GA
tan 60 has value sqrt(3)
So, EG has a value 73 sqrt(3) which you have written above.
