A baseball is thrown upward from a height of 40 feet. The height,"h", that the baseball is from the ground "t" seconds after being thrown is given by the equation h=-t^2+6t+40. How many seconds after being thrown will the ball hit the ground?

OpenStudy (ghazi):

put that h=0 solve for t you'll get answer

OpenStudy (oaktree):

This is a quadratic equation. Light ghazi said, you just need to set height equal to zero and solve.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

And make sure you ONLY include the positive answer!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 10

OpenStudy (oaktree):

Good.

OpenStudy (ghazi):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx for the help! :)

OpenStudy (ghazi):

:)

OpenStudy (ghazi):

we made....H=0 cuz on returning ground....height becomes zero...
