From my calculations the magnitude of acceleration is 40m/s^2. However, I don't know how to solve for direction because I do not understand American football

The average acceleration: (V2 - V1)/t
is going to be negative, since V2 = 0
The direction is just the opposite direction from the direction the player is running.
