A football player carry the ball runs straight ahead at the line of scrimmage and directly into the wall of defensive linemen. The ball carrier has an initial speed of 8.00m/s^2 and is stopped in a time interval of 0.200s. Find the magnitude and direction of average acceleration.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From my calculations the magnitude of acceleration is 40m/s^2. However, I don't know how to solve for direction because I do not understand American football

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The average acceleration: (V2 - V1)/t is going to be negative, since V2 = 0 The direction is just the opposite direction from the direction the player is running.
