What is the question asking you to determine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would factor by grouping...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that where you determine 2 numbers that add up to the x coefficient and multiply out to the product of the outer two numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually... Do you know the quadratic equation? It would make it a lot easier, just slower.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you were to use the grouping method, 3x^2+14x+8 Multiply a and c to get 24 12 x 2 = 24 (12 x 2) is from the 14. (12+2=14) Then, you can separate the equation into (3x^2+12x)+(2x+8) This simplifies into 3x(x+4)+2(x+4) You can then combine them to make (3x+2)(x+4)

Kinda vague, but tell me if you need help understanding it.
