y=x^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are you trying to find?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph the function y=x^3. Vertically stretch the function by 3, horizontally stretch it to the right by 5, and reflect it over the x-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is for a friend and i have no idea how to explain it to her

OpenStudy (mathmate):

"...horizontally stretch it to the right by 5,..." do you really mean translate it to the right by 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im assuming so. thats exactly what her directions said

OpenStudy (mathmate):

y=a(x-h)^3+k a will stretch(|a|>1)/shrink(|a|<1) vertically if a>0 if a<0, it flips about the x-axis. h=displacement to the right k=displacement upwards
