What are continuous lights? What advantages and disadvantages do they have?

Continuous lights refer to the light atmosphere where the lights fall over a body continuously. They do have advantages, as well as disadvantages.

Advantages: object is viewed continuously, much more accurate photographs, etcetera.
Disadvantages: I mentioned them in another question.
