mow many plants spaced every 6in are needed to surround a circular walkway with a 25 ft radius how do i set up and solved

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Do you know how to get the circumference of a circle?

Am an older person never did thi sin school am trying to learn

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Ok no problem. The circumference of a circle is \[C=\pi d = 2 \pi r\]Where pi is about 3.14, d is the diameter, r is the radius. Since the question gives you the radius you can use the formula:\[C=2 \pi r=2 *3.14*25ft=157ft\]Now convert the circumference which is in feet, to inches: \[157.08ftft*\frac{12in}{ft}=1884in\]Once you have the circumference in inches all you need to do is divide it by 6 to determine how many intervals you'll have around the walkway.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

You could also skip the last part by simply doubling 157 since there is 2*6 inches per foot...that will also give you the answer of 314 plants.
