Algebraic expressions- The opposite of a number squared plus 3? How would I write it down like an algebraic expression?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the number is say \(x\) then the "opposite" of \(x\) is \(-x\)

Thank you so mcu! You're awesome! :)

*much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it really depends on where the comma is. that is how math is different from english

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks and I'll remeber that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the opposite of a number squared plus 3 would be \(-(x^2+3)\) whereas the opposite of a numbers squared, plus 3 would be \(-x)^2+3\)
