To work it out a bit more:
Science is exploring our environment, our ancestors, the history of the world we live in.
Without science we wouldn't know how a tree or an animal grows, we wouldn't know how our own body works (and in case of the DNA and the brain we still don't know everything).

So basically, science is improvement - improvement of our life and the way we interact with our environment (e.g. using regenerative energy sources instead of fossil fuels).
